UrbanTheater Company is partnering with Urban Village Church and The Night Ministry for an evening of Theatre and Ministry. Taking to the Stage and sharing our stories is powerful and life changing. After each performance of Nilo Cruz’s Beauty of the Father, we have had the opportunity to meet and speak directly with members of our audience who have been moved and touched. Not only by the performances, but by the story. Beauty is a story about family, love and reconciliation. To that end, UTC has partnered with Urban Village Church, a Chicago Church that truly practices what it preaches by accepting every single person for who they are and where they are at on this life journey. Urban Village will collect items for Chicago’s Night Ministry; a city organization that assists Chicago’s Homeless and LGBT Youth. A Donation to the Night Ministry gets you a specially priced $10 ticket! Items will be collected at the theatre. Items to bring: travel size toothpaste, shaving items, deodorant, shampoo, Winter Coats, blankets, socks, hats and gloves! Join Pastors Trey Hall and Christian Coon for an intimate Post Show Talk Back discussing themes expressed in the play. Support our efforts to not only bringing amazing Midwest Premieres to the stage, but as we work to partnering with organizations working to heal the world.

“Sonnets For An Old Century” at Steppenwolf’s Garage

¡Be a part of UTC’s journey!

Now in our 5th season, we are overjoyed to be a part of the Garage Rep at Steppenwolf Theater Company where we will be performing “Sonnets for an Old Century” by José Rivera!

This work by Obie-winning, Academy Award-nominated playwright José Rivera asks the question, “What would you say about the life you’ve lived?”. In a waiting room for the afterlife, a crowd of ordinary souls are en route to their final resting place and are given one last chance to share with the universe their parting thoughts. Part poetry, part magical realism, this dreamscape play offers profound insights and revelations.

We have stellar cast and an amazing production team. But we need your help to get us through the final stages of production. Every penny you donate will go directly to the costs necessary to making this production successful. Every little bit counts, and we would love your help to make this amazing production come to life.
